IN BRIEF

Gift Aid

Gift Aid is an extremely important addition to the Trust’s annual income. We are able to claim 20 per cent of any donation or membership subscription, if it comes from someone who pays income tax. This year alone we have been able to claim back more than £6,000 thanks to your generosity.

The bulk of our Gift Aid income comes from our Friends of the Copped Hall Trust annual membership subscriptions. Each membership form has a box with the following in it: “I would like the charity to apply for Gift Aid on my behalf. I understand that I must pay income tax at least equal to the amount claimed by the Copped Hall Trust in each year.” Then there is a space for your signature. Once you have signed, we can claim each time you renew your membership or make a donation, unless your circumstances change.

If this applies to you, and you are not aware that you have signed, please pick up a membership form when you are next at Copped Hall. If you just want to make a donation and you are not a Friend, we have forms in the Racquets Court that can be used. It is important that you let our Membership Secretary know if your circumstances have changed, when renewing your membership.

Thank you again for your generosity.

Home Office

Over the last year, we have been establishing an “office” at Copped Hall. We found that we were spending too much money on printing costs and decided the best way forward was to do our own printing. We now have a secondhand computer, a printer and a colour photocopier which, together with our laminator, guillotine and shredder, make us pretty self-sufficient. We have been able to lease the photocopier, which keeps costs down considerably.

Now we are able to produce the Green (Events) Book, the newsletter, posters and leaflets in-house, which has proved to be immensely satisfying and cost effective. I am incredibly grateful to Iris Newbery and Christine Hawkins who not only help me, but take over a lot of the responsibility. Christine works on the newsletter and Iris and I produce the Green Book and the new events leaflet between us, but it is very much teamwork. It is not a quick job producing everything, but we manage to have a good time whilst we work!

The main aim is to promote and advertise Copped Hall as effectively and economically as possible.

Shop Changes

I have now relinquished responsibility for the Copped Hall Trust Gift Shop. Maureen Carroll has taken on the work of stocking the shop and Mollie Dowle looks after the staffing of the shop. Between them, they are doing an excellent job. If you have any enquiries regarding purchasing any item from the shop, please email Maureen on maureencarroll950@btinternet.com.
