Trustee Talk

About two years ago I was asked if I would consider being a trustee. At the time I was very surprised, but also flattered, so my answer was that I would have to give it some serious thought before I could give a reply. My first concern was that although I would find it very interesting it would also mean a lot of responsibility and commitment; my other concern was whether it would affect the good relationships I had forged with the other volunteers. After giving it much thought I decided that, as the other trustees were also volunteers, and I had sat on various committees in the past, I would give it a try. At first it was very confusing getting to grips with the legal and financial issues that the Trust has to deal with, but over time, despite the occasional hiccup, everything has fallen into place, I have found that being a trustee is very worthwhile and I am pleased that I took up the position. Although we have to discuss and deal with many serious
issues, there are always moments of fun and laughter.

We are now using Copped Hall for the purposes for which it was saved; we have increased our study days, drawing classes, workshops, musical evenings and many other events. With the continuing help and support of our volunteers, we will be able to go from strength to strength in the future.

It is so rewarding to be part of such a wonderful and unique project which could so easily have been lost for ever. Thank you.
